May...we begin? 2019

Our Colour Books are heaving with new ideas, techniques, developments and images which just bring us joy for whatever reason. Today we added a new page...or at least we began a new page, the results will hopefully be seen in June. 'Layout when designing.'
Just ask the question when you begin a motif - where is it going to sit on the page/canvas/fabric? We know not to plop it in the centre or up a corner flat!
So today we looked at beginning a motif on the intersection of a loosely drawn grid of 4 lines, using bees, butterflies and bees for our inspiration.

Remember that the background is 50% of the overall effect - so don't forget it. Will it be coloured/textured/patterned/pictorial, such as leaves or berries? Responses will hopefully appear in the blog next month.

Other work continues to flourish of course.

Janet C has discovered she can draw and write beautifully with her non-dominant hand. A trait she didn't know she possessed until she broke her humerus last month

Her observation drawing of tulip bulbs is stunning. Have you tried drawing with your non-dominant hand? You don't know the results unless you try...give it a go.

Gill spent the day experimenting with a neutral palette involving PVA, brown paper and tissue paper

Our next meeting in June, will hopefully reveal our design pages based on the housefly, bees and butterflies.
